### #10 Time Vs. Money : Who Wins?

There was a funny story about Bill Gates. If Bill Gates walks on the road and sees \$100 bill, he shouldn’t waste time picking it up, because he earns much more than \$100 every minute, mathematically speaking.

\$7.25 per hour. That’s the minimum wage.

So how long it will take average people to earn \$1?

In less than 9 minutes, you can earn \$1.

That’s to say,

If you spent nine minutes to save a dollar, you’re working for less than minimum wage

which is the cartoon trying to show.

Next time before you drive to a far place to get a bargain, you should really do some calculation. And you may want to count the fuel fee as well.

However, there is another angle to see this problem.

Because you don’t spend every day and every minute on work, so the time when you don’t work does not equal to money.

So a penny saved is a penny earned. As long as the fuel fee is not higher than the money you save, it’s your victory.

Math is always interesting.

In conclusion, if you are as rich as Bill Gates once was, you don’t have to worry about this kind of problems. And if you are not, all you need to do is read this post and get back to work. And by the way, Bill Gates said he would pick up the money no matter how much money he earned. Won’t you?
